Whilst RIMsec is not a member or participating broker of the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX), it is pleased to be able to offer clients' access to ASX listed fixed income securities. RIMSEC has arrangements with an ASX participating broker who will execute the required transactions on our behalf for our clients. To enable RIMsec to do this, the following steps must be completed. Broker requirements Prior to the purchase of stock all clients need to be setup as a broker sponsored customer so that the stock can be purchased on the ASX and lodged in the customers' name. In order to set clients up with the ASX broker, an application form will be provided requesting the relevant details as indicated below. Provide all necessary information The following details must be provided to RIMsec:
Banking Funds The pricing and settlement of these securities requires the participating ASX broker to enter the market to buy or sell stock on behalf of the customer. When buying an ASX listed security, the client must transfer sufficient funds by the settlement date to the following account: Account Name: RIM Securities Ltd Client Trust Account Bank: ANZ BSB: 014-002 Bank: 4985 34666 Important: please note that funds must be CLEARED by the settlement date. This means that if a client is paying via cheque into the account, then it must be deposited three days prior to the settlement date to allow for the funds to clear. When RIMsec sells a security on behalf of a customer, proceeds from the sale will be transferred to the bank account nominated by the client, provided the account is in the same name as the ASX investment. Customers need to provide RIMsec with proof of ownership by way of Stock Registered Number(SRN) or equivalent. Written instructions When the funds are banked into RIMsec's Client Trust Account, RIMsec's legal and compliance procedures require us to receive written instructions from clients' authorising RIMsec to withdraw this money in order to make payments for executed transactions. An authorised representative will provide clients with the written instructions document that must be signed and returned to RIMsec prior to settlement. Receiving a RIMsec trade confirmation Prior to settlement, RIMsec will post (and/or email) a trade confirmation to the client at the address provided. This confirmation includes all details relating to the ASX transaction such as the issuer, investor(s) name, number of units purchased and at what price. Receiving a Registry trade confirmation The relevant issuer nominated registry will issue a sponsored statement that will confirm the holding of securities. The document will provide a SRN (security-holder reference number). An SRN is allocated by an issuer to identify a holder on an issuer sponsored or certificated sub register. Custody of stock There are two ways in which stock can be held and transferred - "broker-sponsored" securities are held in CHESS and "issuer-sponsored" securities are held at the issuer nominated registry. Unless otherwise specified, all transactions involving ASX listed securities will be held in CHESS. |
