Welcome to RIM Securities Limited ("RIMsec")
RIM Securities Ltd ("RIMsec") is an ASIC licensed specialist fixed interest securities dealer, that is a majority owned subsidiary of Queensland Trustees & Investment Limited (QTI), a company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. RIMsec has been in the Australian market since 2004, and is one of the few fixed interest brokers dedicated to servicing only the fixed interest market. As such, we specialise in providing a broking service for short-dated and long-dated fixed interest products in Australia. What differentiates RIMsec from other banks and brokers is that we do not originate our own securities and therefore offer an impartial service to clients without being influenced by any issuance requirements. Our dealer licence number, issued by the Australian Securities & Investments Commission ("ASIC") is 283119.
As a specialist fixed income dealer we offer wholesale and retail investors easy access to a wide range of Australian fixed income products, from cash deposits to banks bills, negotiable certificates of deposits, bank bonds, government bonds, debentures and corporate bonds. We also offer sophisticated investors, high net worth individuals and financial advisors specialist guidance on fixed income portfolio construction. Other services we provide are order execution, valuation services and market commentaries. We offer domestic and international settlements capability as well as support in the provision of custodian accounts.
RIMsec is in the position to comment on all fixed income products due to our collective international and domestic market experience and knowledge. The RIMsec team expertise covers all facets of banking and financial markets, allowing RIMsec to service clients professionally on all aspects and characteristics of investing in the regular income markets. By combining our market knowledge, product understanding and financial modelling capabilities we are able to guide investors through the process of assessing all possible regular income investment opportunities and outcomes.

The Fixed Interest Market
We source investment products through direct investments, primary securities issues and the secondary securities markets:
Direct Investments - Banks, building societies and credit unions all source funds, both short- and long-term, through the fixed interest market. The price offered on retail deposits is often dependent on the wholesale market, with institutions pricing deposit rates according to underlying bank bill and bond markets, trends and expectations within those markets. RIMsec's expertise in these markets, when combined with excellent relationships with our financial institution suppliers, allows us to offer deposit rates to clients that are often not available to retail investors.
Primary Securities Issues - Organisations utilise the primary markets to raise capital and/or debt. After drawing up a prospectus they approach organisations like RIMsec to distribute the product through to potential investors. Through its extensive network RIMsec is actively involved in the primary issuance market. Types of deals range from the issuance of short-term securities by financial institutions, through to new prospectus-driven placements and hybrid securities.
Secondary Securities Markets - The secondary market although available to all investors has largely remained the domain of the professional and large wholesale customers. RIMsec gives direct entry to these markets for professional, sophisticated and retail customers and as a priority, is looking to further develop these markets for all investors going forward. We currently have access to a wide range of offerings, including all primary and secondary fixed interest stock on offer in the wholesale market, along with access to individual and corporate clients who hold a considerable amount of stock (for offer) in their own portfolios. This places us in the enviable position of being able to provide not only a “in market” broking service (for stock that is common to the whole market), but being able to provide a “search service” where we can locate specific stock that you may require.
With the regular interest rate markets, information is often not as readily obtainable as the other asset classes. Our regular reports and market information will keep you informed of important events and flows allowing better insight into a very important but often disregarded asset class. This extensive network also ensures that the price you receive is always competitive and timely. Our prices to you – for any security, whether it be a discounted security or longer term bond – is an “inclusive” price, and therefore includes any brokerage costs associated with our service. This enables you to compare the price you receive from RIMsec with any other prices you see in the market.
